RIAA는 17일(이하 현지시간) 공식 홈페이지를 통해 지난해 8월 전 세계에 공개된 방탄소년단의 디지털 싱글 'Dynamite'가 3월 17일 자로 '더블 플래티넘' 인증을 받았다고 공식 발표했다. RIAA는 디지털 다운로드, 오디오 및 비디오 스트리밍 등을 집계해 200만 이상 팔린 음원에 '더블 플래티넘' 인증을 부여한다.

이에 앞서 방탄소년단은 RIAA 디지털 싱글 부문에서 2018년 11월 9일 'MIC Drop'(2017년 9월 발매)으로 첫 플래티넘 인증을 받았고, 지난해 1월 16일 LOVE YOURSELF 結 'Answer'(2018년 8월 발매)의 타이틀곡 'IDOL', 6월 20일에는 '작은 것들을 위한 시 (Boy With Luv) feat. Halsey'(2019년 4월 발매)로도 플래티넘 인증을 받은 바 있다. 더블 플래티넘 인증은 'Dynamite'가 처음이다.

방탄소년단은 지난해 1월 16일에는 리패키지 앨범 LOVE YOURSELF 結 'Answer'(2018년 8월 발매))로 앨범 부문 첫 플래티넘 인증을 받았으며, 같은 해 11월 16일에 정규 4집 'MAP OF THE SOUL : 7'으로도 RIAA 앨범 부문 플래티넘 인증을 받은 바 있다.

이로써 방탄소년단은 지금까지 모두 2장의 앨범과 4개의 곡으로 RIAA 플래티넘 인증을 받았다. 앨범 부문, 디지털 싱글 부문 각각은 물론이고 총 6개의 플래티넘 인증 역시 한국 가수로는 최다 기록이다.

RIAA는 디지털 싱글과 앨범 판매량에 따라 골드(50만 이상), 플래티넘(100만 이상), 멀티 플래티넘(200만 이상), 다이아몬드(1000만 이상)로 구분해 인증한다. 앨범 부문은 디지털 및 실물 앨범 판매량, 디지털 다운로드, 오디오 및 비디오 스트리밍 등을 포함하고 디지털 싱글의 경우 디지털 다운로드, 오디오 및 비디오 스트리밍 등을 집계한다.

 

The RIAA certifies digital singles and albums by categorizing them into gold (over 500,000), platinum (over 1 million), multi-platinum (over 2 million), and diamond (over 10 million).
